Whatever Wednesdays are just going to be a random craft, recipe, tutorial or thought. I'm going to try and stay away from Scrapbooking and Smoothies since those are what I talk about on Mondays and Saturdays.
For this week's Whatever Wednesday I would like to share with you a knitting book that I really love. I was not paid to review this book - I actually bought it on my own from Amazon. I decided I wanted to try knitting bigger things like sweaters and I actually had a hard time finding any books with styles that I really liked. If anyone has recommendations I love new pattern books. Anyway, I put this on my Amazon Wishlist and my dad bought it for me for Christmas two years ago and had it sent to my house but somehow it never arrived even though it said delivered when he looked it up. I didn't find out until weeks later when he was asking me how I liked it that he had bought it for me and by then I had already ordered it myself with a gift card I had gotten for Christmas.
Anyway, the point is that it's a really great book. It has lots of cute styles of sweaters with suggested variations for each. I think this one is my favorite:
I actually started making it almost right after I got the book but it's one of those things that I pick up and put down for months and then pick up again. I'm actually pretty close to finishing it - just need to work on the sleeves. It's definitely not perfect but it's not bad for a first attempt at a sweater. Everyone's gotta start somewhere right?
One of the things that I really liked about this book was the charts they give you. They realize that everyone's body is different and want to help you fit the sweater as closely as possible to your unique measurements. There are pages and pages of charts for measurements so that if you have a really tiny body with super long arms you can make a tiny-bodied long armed sweater to fit your measurements. Here's an example:
I would say in general that if you're new to knitting, this is not a good book for you to start out with. It's a bit overwhelming if you were trying to learn the basics. But if you've done a few basic projects and you feel comfortable with different types of stitches and have knitted a few simpler projects in the round, this can give you something new and more adventurous to try.
If you're interested in purchasing the book, here's a link to it on Amazon: Top Down Sweaters
In other news my husband blew up a car yesterday. Well not personally I guess, but he filmed it blowing up. Before you get worried and call the police, it was for a movie and the police were there. They're filming a semi-documentary that has a car crash in it and the car ends up exploding after the crash. I always get nervous about him doing this stunt type stuff but him and all the techies he hangs around with get so excited about it. I'm just glad he came out of it safe and sound.
Hope you all have a safe and sound Wednesday! :)
