Matt and I are all about Sunday morning breakfast. On a normal day I have cereal for breakfast and he has oatmeal and of course we each have to have our morning cup of coffee. On Sunday mornings though, we usually try to do something a little special. One of our go-to Sunday breakfasts is bananas foster french toast. It has bananas on it so it's gotta be healthy right?
This is a pretty quick and easy recipe. It probably takes me about 15 minutes to whip up.
Ingredients (For 5-6 pieces of french toast)
3 eggs
Cinnamon
Vanilla
5-6 pieces of bread
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 banana
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Start off making the french toast normally. Crack your three eggs in a bowl. Matt always likes to add a little bit of milk, cinnamon and vanilla to his egg mixture. Whisk your ingredients together and coat each slice of bread with the egg mixture. Place on a skillet or griddle over 350 degree heat.
Let your bread cook until it gets golden brown on the bottom and then flip it and let it get golden brown on the other side.
While the french toast is cooking you can put together the sauce. Start by melting the butter in the pan. Once it's melted, add the quarter cup of brown sugar and stir constantly to combine. Add a dash of cinnamon, the lemon juice and about a teaspoon of vanilla and mix well. Cut the banana into thin slices and add to the sauce mixture.
But your french toast onto a plate and drizzle the sauce on top.
Serve with a tardis mug.
